Morgans Fish House
We may not have caught everyone's attention, but then again it was the first year and there are many more to go - Rome wasn't built in a day. But those that participated all recounted how much fun it was to compete in the Great Big Pumpkin Carving Competition. There were some amazing pumpkins and the amount of work and thought that went into each of them was astonishing. A huge thank you to all who got in on the act. I hope that in the years ahead this can become a focal point for Rye's High Street and people from all over the world will come to see the art - just like the Snow Village in Montreal. Who knows, maybe we can entice Banksy to pop over and doodle on some of the pumpkins!
And to the winners...
1st Prize - Nest. The whole team worked on creating an entire living room inside a pumpkin - with a faux leopard rug, sofa, coffee table and cheese platter! Even a working chandelier and out door lights! Amazing.
2nd Prize - Ruby's. The picture doesn't do it justice but this I Love (in Ruby Red) an...oyster - with a drilled out whole stuffed with a faux pearl. Brilliant.
3rd Prize - The Red Pony. Milton, the fun loving barman at the Red Pony really went to work on creating a scary, puking, pumpkin, with the worst looking teeth I have ever seen. Profoundly disturbing!
Once again - many thanks to everyone who participated. It was a lot of fun and I know that it brightened up the smiles of many children who wondered past and looked at all this artwork. Next year let's get everyone involved?
From the Pumpkin Patch - have a great holiday season and see you all next year.
