Down to Earth Markets is committed to a strong regional food system – one that fosters a network of independent, family-scale farms and food businesses, while providing everyone with an alternative to industrial food. We have been creating and managing farmers markets for over 21 years, starting with the Ossining Farmers Market in 1991.

Our mission-driven company is based in Westchester County, NY, and we now manage approximately 20 markets in Westchester County, Rockland County, and New York City. We are looking for enthusiastic individuals with great people skills to manage one or more seasonal farmers markets and to assist with market promotion in the local community.

The Farmers Market Manager oversees and supervises the daily operations of a farmers market to assure a smooth and safe running market; serves as a market host; welcomes and engages shoppers; and promotes good relations between vendors, shoppers, and our company. The Farmers Market Manager communicates shopper feedback to Down to Earth Markets, helping to assure that the market meets the needs of the shoppers and their communities.

The Farmers Market Managers also help promote the market(s) via community outreach. They encourage attendance at the markets through a variety of approaches, including distributing flyers and meeting with community groups to talk about locally grown and produced foods. In Westchester County, candidates must be have reliable transportation.

All candidates should be able to lift and carry 50 lbs, have access to a computer for social networking and emailing reports, and be available for the entire season (early May – late November).
